Cooperation with Uzbekistan in Cargo Transport..

The civil aviation authorities of Turkey and Uzbekistan came together on 15-16 May 2008 in Tashkent and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop civil aviation relations.

During the meetings, in which bilateral air transport agreement signed in 1992 revised for today’s conditions, it has been agreed to perform cargo flights without any limitation on frequencies or destination points.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties can designate any number of company for cargo transport between defined destinations and these designated companies may perform scheduled charter flights without frequency and capacity limitations.

The committees that came together under the chairmanship of General Director of Civil Aviation, Dr. Ali ARIDURU and Uzbekistan Civil Aviation Authority, Tolib ULJAEV, decided to increase the number of flights between İstanbul and Tashkent from four to five. Additionally, the parties agreed on cooperation between two countries on ground handling, maintenance, training and other civil aviation issues.

With the negotiations with Uzbekistan, the number of countries that Turkey has bilateral negotiations increased to 9. GDCA had negotiations with Syria, Sri Lanka, Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Bahrain, Russia and Iran in 2008.
